Moore Endorses Perdue for NC Governor PDF Print E-mail

State Treasurer Richard Moore officially endorsed Bev Perdue for North Carolina governor. Moore suggested his supporters to help Perdue to win in the November election against Republican nominee Pat McCrory. Perdue defeated Moore in the May 6 primary, 56 percent of the vote to 40 percent. County Passes Capital Budget PDF Print E-mail

The County Commission met on July,1 to begin finalizing its capital budget plans for 2008-2009.  There was a unanimous vote to place Park and Recreation the ballot in the fall and to build the needed new jail with $360 million (this includes inflation) in non-voted debt.

Legislators Improve on Disclosure Reports PDF Print E-mail

Today is the deadline for state legislators and other candidates to file the fourth in a series of six disclosure reports that provide details about their income and spending for the 2008 election cycle. The reports can reveal a pattern of support from a special interest or type of donor, as well as who the campaign hires as consultants.

Tricia Cotham’s Bill Saves Teachers Money PDF Print E-mail

A bill that would relieve teachers of a $50 payment required when they use personal leave to pay for a substitute on teacher workdays received final approval Thursday in the General Assembly. Rep. Tricia Cotham was the primary proponent of the measure and had experienced this problem while she was a teacher.

Hagan Raises $1.6 Million in Second Quarter PDF Print E-mail

Kay Hagan's U.S. Senate campaign announced this week that Kay has raised more than $1.6 million in the second quarter of the year, strongly positioning her to aggressively take on Elizabeth Dole. The fundraising total leaves the campaign with $1.2 million cash on hand.
